I'm not sure if that's such a sucker bet, even in Hilo. Assuming a week-long holiday (reasonable, for a destination so far from the mainland) this only would've only happened in December, January and February in the last year - if I'm reading the graphs correctly. And then only in one week or two of each of those months. All you need is just one day with less than half an inch and you miss out. But if you're going anyway...

Thanks for posting the deal, Damon. There is, of course, a rub. All flights involved in the Hilo packages arrive in/depart from Kona. The rain fall is measured at the airport connected to the package... the Kona airport! Hmmmph. The prices are fairly "reasonable" for these crazy times, so it is worth a look and --hey-- it does rain in Kona...

Kona airport rarely gets rain. It's a long shot at best for a refund but November would be my pick for the best time for rain.
exactly, none in Hawai'i. Just for kicks I looked at the rainfall totals at the airports used, and the only time it would have worked is February '06 in Kaua'i, when the dams broke.
You might tell Priceline that booking Hilo packages with KOA arrivals and Hilo hotels is asinine. When there's an international airport 5 minutes from the hotel, you bring people in from more than 2 hours drive away?

I'd buy for late October...early November. Pretty good odds for rain at that time if you look at the rainfall records for previous years.

Yep, and after Haole posted I went to the site myself and every single Hilo hotel stay flew into KOA and it rejected when I put in ITO.
So what's the deal with this? Did you check it, Damon?
