Oh Andrew!!!

To quote Pam La, "If I get my S%%t together, I will bake fresh bread. If not, who knows? Plus, I have the hotdog/sausage/braworst things Mella left in our freezer for her contribution. I know that sounds awful but they are actually really really good".

LOL The dogs are hot links, not for the mild mouthed person! Would really go great with some red beans and rice at room temp! Have a grand time you guys.

Last time out at Richardson's I saw so much and was also run against the tide by a giant hono! My back was to the ocean and I was hanging around watching this giant creature mosey along the rocks munching his way along, when he began swimming toward me. I was back stroking like crazy against the tide to give him room, and he seemed to be following and playing with me and advancing my way. Oh well could be my imagination, but sure was a super way to end my day!!

Saw lots of babies, and an enormous Humuhumunukunukuapua, you know the one! Surgeons and so many tang babies, must be the season. Oh and last but not the least saw what we called a creamcycle fish, orange and white and torpedo shaped.

Aloha,
mella l

Wish I were there! Hey Mella, a little bunny told me you and a certain gentleman who is named after a holiday in December (not Boxing Day) went by Hale Lavalava. Next time, insist on a passionfruit margarita before you leave.

Okay I got up at 6 this morning and started baking some fresh bread, so you better be there! LOL

We will be bringing Mella's Hot Links, the fresh bread and some fish we will cook there. Oh baby, this fish is great!

I had a GREAT time; loved seeing you all. Food was grand. Rain was actually fun since it came in a couple spurts then quit.

For those who mentioned coming up to the ranch for bread baking, chicken viewing and hyrdoponics demos... phone me but understand that my cell phone but the dust and I am expecting a new one on Wed or Thursday.

LEAVE A MESSAGE if you call the home phone especially. I almost never get to it by the time the machine picks up.. the house is too big and I am too slow. Expect me to pick up during your message about half the time!

Wooo hooo

We had a great time too, even though we had to cut it short because I just was feeling really under the weather.. (I didn't even get to try any of the great food!!)

My mother in law wants that purple potatoe salad recipe too, she thought it was fantastic!

Anyway, we'll be there next time... but I promise to be more lively and involved next time!

Thanks again everyone, love these Sundays [8D]

Another beautiful day at the beach (and it looked soooo grey on the way out!)
the true secret are the potatos... (gotta come 'n' get them on a gleaning day!) (I have never had this with any other purple sweet potatos... only the ones from the farm we glean... so if you don't glean them...not guarantees!)

anyhooo, for this batch I made this way:

3 gal. cooked gleaned Hamakua coast purple sweet potatos, cubed
2 Maui onions finely diced
2 Keaau yellow peppers diced
mix up & stir in a sweet vinegrette:
1 cup vinegar
3 ish tbsp (heaping with lumps...) sugar
1/4 cup Huli Sauce (or any other thing to give a little extra zing..)

(always try a little drop of the vinegrette, it should still have a little vinegar, but mostly tamed with the sugar... My PPS menter has used sweet pickle juice that has a little more vinigar added, you can also add some mashed fresh ginger for a little more zing...)
The potatos will absorb the vinegrette & have the beautiful pink/dark purple tones, with the confetti of white onion bits & yellow peppers...
