Thanks nnickle for your post. That was good, also shows we are on the right track, investing in the right company's, helping the economy, recycling and quenching our thirst, here I had been thinking of cutting back![Big Grin] I know this information has been posted before about this website, tracking local gas station prices! $2.77/gallon in Kansas City - I think it's the lowest in the nation right now. Sure wish I could send some to you on Hawaii!

It is about $3.50/gallon here in Baton Rouge, and we have an Exxon refinery that is one of the largest in the US here and several others down the river, we produce a lot of crude oil, import a lot through the state, and have the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Go figure!

The high price of gas has been tough, but has forced us to rethink a lot of our more self indulgent habits.

If gas drops below $3.00/gal are we going to return to our wasteful, consummer driven lifestyles while the upward price cycle starts all over again?

I think the price of gas should remain high; but the profits should be directed towards alternative energy, mass transit and the public good. (Instead of the fat cartel members)

Gas is $4.30 here in the SF East Bay. It does not affect me because I only drive 50 miles a month. But you would not believe how many gross Hummers and Escalades I sit in line behind at the pumps. I would say 80% of the people in the East Bay have SUV's. Hey, if you have horses or if you are driving down to Waipio Valley... yes an SUV might be important, but these are suburban soccer moms and business people who commute ALONE between 50-70 miles a day and just want that big macho truck. We are taking our two gas efficent cars over to Hawaii with us. They are paid off and have no rust damage.

I agree with Greg that if the gas prices rise, people will lose their perspective on the real issues. It is so sad.

Hmm. I totally agree with you esnap.. which seems to be rare these days [Smile] Although.. I don't know if I like the Hawaii side of the bet. Oh wait.. Damons' on the other side? Ok, I'll cover esnap on the other 23 beers to make a case.. But since I'm giving up some odds here, it's my choice on the beer! He he..have a Long Neck neighbor.
