I have T-Mobile, live in Eden Roc all the way at the end. I've got great service. It sometimes switches to the Cingular tower and that is even better service.
Did you say you have verizon for Internet Service? Is that High speed? That's not Hawaiian Tel, right?
I only have dial up now and a 64mb download would take 18 hours.

AT&T is generally considered to have the best coverage, but if any carrier doesn't have it where you live, it's irrelevant. I get coverage sporadically where I live, but across the street I don't. AT&T was supposed to expand 3G coverage to this part of lower Puna by the end of summer according to their website. Of course that didn't happen. The new tower near Kalapana provides some coverage where it wasn't before, same with Verizon. Used to have Sprint before I moved here and their coverage was horrible here.

If you want better cell phone service, you need to pressure the State Legislature to pass wireless telephone essential service requirements. This will force cell carriers to map out their coverage areas and be forced to install new equipment to fill in the gaps, so 9-1-1 service via cell phone is available in all but the remote areas. Many states have begun passing this legislation because more and more people are switching to cell service. It does a person no good to get a cell phone but have no coverage, especially in an emergency. It also establishes the repayment method so carriers aren’t jacking up cost immediately to cover the cost since the equipment will most likely generate monthly revenue far in excess of the actual cost.
I drove up and down every road in Eden Roc, while using the Blackberry GPS maps. Of course the GPS signal comes from satellites but the map images come via the wireless t-mobile data service. It mapped real time constantly unless I was on a call, and I never dropped a call. I must say I was pretty pleased.
