Yep... HPP is in zone 3 which means all homes are insurable and about the same price as you would pay on the mainland. we have Allstate and live on 5th street and to insure a $375,000 home....it's about $60.00 a month. But most people have hurricane insurance also (which is required if you have a mortgage) and it's another $60.00 a month. The only exception in HPP is oceanfront property up to 2nd street. Those people are in the tsunami zone and most insurance companies won't insure them.

Shop around, not all mortgage companies require hurricane insurance.

Hi, I bought in HPP and went through a broker, Pyramid Ins., and I got homeowner insurance with hurricane coverage for $571/year. The hurricane insurance wasn't mandatory, but it wasn't that much more.

Oh, I did find out that the low rate is partly due to the proximity of a fire hydrant at Paradise & 27th...
See you in the surf

yes, we also live in HPP and have a mortgage, and Hurricane insurance is totally up to us. If we wish to pay for it or not. We go through ARIC insurance company, not that they are great or anything. They denied a few of our claims, we will look now to Geico. Anyway, I think it depends on your mortgage comp. if they will accept or deny your lack of hurricane insur. Its all a bunch of crap, from beginning to end. I wish you luck. Stay strong. V
