Obama won

I think Obama will be the new Hoover.

It will be a 1 term president but this would have happened Obama or McCain.

Everyone is so excited about Obama, but change is easy to say and hard to perform. I think many will be come disheartened in a few years at so little change that has happened but was promised. This will be much like the Carter admin.

The financial situation will draw down the pres and congress. The repubs might be lucky they were out of power during this period. They need to hang tough get their group in order stick to the standard platform but this time actually defend and advance it. Also much like the dems they need to block all judge appointees fed and supremes.

I still see a long financial downturn of more than 2 years then bumping the bottom for a few after that.

I know everyone says the economy was a big factor in the election, but I am up over 250% in my ira and about 150% or 180k in my personal accounts. Sure no one wanted to listen to my Cassandra like cries a few years ago. Maybe Obama will cause a rise in Gaultism?

during this entire process(campaign), it's the only thing that came out of his mouth that was humble, good, and inspiring. Unfortunately the newer 2.0 John McCain is nothing like the 2000 McCain. The newer McCain was a total sell out in his attempt at trying to get to Pennsylvania Ave. Tax cuts, religion, and the list goes on! Besides, after 8 years of total hell by having the "dirt farmer" from Crawford Texas totally screw up this country in the eyes of the rest of the world! Yet people still wanted to vote McCain into office?!?! I guess 47% of the country was happy with the past 8 years? I guess 47% of our population was happy with our economy going into the dumps? 10 billion dollars a month spent on the Iraq war? I can think of plenty of better things to do with 10 billion a month than flushing it carelessly down the Iraq toilet?

America has spoken, the world has spoken too! When is the last time a modern day American president elected was celebrated in the streets of Europe, and Asia besides our streets at home? Is this mass world celebration because of Obama's karisma, or because 8 years of hell is finished in 90 days?

Even if we had a vibrant and expanding economy, which we don't, Obama's leftest tax policy would create a recession.
Imagine what is going to happen to the U.S. and world economy from where we are now.

Obama, will be just like Chavez and Mugabe. They just keep trying more Marxist techniques to fix their economy but with each move they drive away more jobs and opportunity. At the end of the day you really can't have a vibrant ecomy when producers are penalized and slackers are awarded.

The problem with the worlds financial system today can be traced back to one major cause, and that is sub-prime lending.
The government telling bankers to lend to people without the means to repay there loans is traceable to one political party.

I hope Obama will listen to reason and not implement all his crazy commie stuff.
He might grow and learn will in office and make a great president.

Being as I will be part of the loyal opposition party, as it appears you will be also, lets not start off like the current loyal opposition party by bashing the President Elect before he does anything official. There will be plenty of time once he starts trying to do things.

The reason I wouldn't have voted for Obama is he's far too much of a right winger.

I'm not kidding.

Investment tip. If interest rates get up to where they were under the Carter administration--under Volcker properly, as the president has nothing to do with setting interest rates--do what my Grandparents did and buy CD's at 10 percent. A number of average conservative people prospered greatly with that.

Cramer's my guru. Of course there's no way he could say "sell everything" since he couldn't justify having a tv show.[Sad]

Lastly, it would be a worthy experiment for many here to actually read the Communist Manifesto before commenting on it. I'm not a communist, nor advocate it, but in many way neither was Marx. Marx was an economist, and understood that "communism" was the ultimate result of capitalism, and for reasons that are painfully apparent at this moment. He observed that systems run by greed and privilege tend to consolidation and abuse, which then cause failure due to ineptitude and corruption--institutions like the US car industry and banking system come to mind. Of course, these institutions are so entrenched in the fabric of society the government must intrude more and more to support them from failure, and eventually end up owning the whole works. We now have a "communist" nationalized banking system, and will soon be looking at the same with the car industry, and likely aircraft manufacture as well. At some point, Marx observed, that the people who paid for these bailouts will rightly demand compensation for their ownership, and the gig is up. Right now we have public ownership of costs and privatization of profits, the worst of all worlds, and there's only so much that which people will stand for.

So, actually, Bush has done more, effectively, to move the world towards communism than Stalin ever did.

LOL...

What are you guys going to do when you can't blame everything on President Bush? Last time I checked, The Democrats Controlled the other branch of government. The one that spends the money even. So, if we have been pushed that direction, it was by both parties, not just one.

You may want to observe that the fed chairman, the treasury secretary, sec of defense, of homeland security, etc, et al. are not elected officials and operate with immunity beyond the reach of elected officials. They serve at appointment and the pleasure of the president exclusively and here is the main source of our problems.

As well, I'm no fan of either political party, but as a matter of fact the number of criminal indictments and convictions laid against those of either party was a 12 to 1 blowout by the Reps in spades. So, they're both rotten folks, but one group certainly has a corner on the market.
