Using Rumber for Fencing

Has anyone tried using Rumber to build a "wood" fence? This material is carried by Castleblock and looks like it could be a nice alternative to expensive stone walls.

If so, what was your cost per foot? How is it holding up to the elements?

No one has used Rumber for fencing.... to expensive. most used have been industrial and military.

There are more economical alternatives.

Rumber does make an excellent deck surface and will last longer than you can count.

Does it have a strong smell?

It has basically no smell. The cost is similar to all heart vertical grain redwood.... pricey.

Rob, what would the price per linear foot of fencing (say, 6' tall) run?

Maybe $50 depending on how it was configured.

I assume you're talking privacy or barricade fencing, at that price, as opposed to pasture fencing.

What about maintenance if used as a deck? Do you have to treat it? Will the color fade (custom color)? How hot does it get in the sunlight vs wood or composite? Never heard of this before and it sounds cool.

It's great as a deck. No spinters, no checking, cracking or rot. No treatment required. Depending on the color there can be some fade of course... but nothing like redwood turning silver. It's nice and soft on the feet. I do need to wash my deck from time to time. Dust and dirt accumulates... but water will not affect it.

Does rumber have better "rigidity" for deck purpose than residential grade stuff like trex composite?
