Wife is Looking for Job
#1
Aloha Everyone,

Not sure if this is the right forum to post in. So if it is not the right forum I am sure Rob will let me know.

Anyway, my wife is looking for a job and she is finding that openings are few and far between. She is an accounting clerk performing accounts payable, receivables and cash applications.

If anyone knows or hears of an opening somewhere in the Puna/Hilo side please e-mail me: konadave@konaforum.com

Mahalo!!!

Dave,

I don't know about any jobs... but does she do taxes? If so, set her up with a website and some business cards, some software and let her hit the streets passing out cards at local businesses or put a small ad in the paper for individuals.

Devany,

Thanks for the thought but unfortunately she doesn't do taxes. If you hear of any openings though, please let me know. She is willing to perform any office duties.

join the club Dave. Unemployment is up, jobs are scarce. I suggest we all get as creative as possible to lower living costs and bring in additional income where we can.

Dave,

I will keep my eyes and ears open for her. Maybe she is destined to be a domestic goddess? [8D]

The census folks are supposed to be hiring a bunch of temp folks. It wouldn't be a permanent job, but anything is better than nothing, isn't it?

Try the web sites - Work Force Hawaii; State sites; County sites; Newspapers...become a real detective! It took quite some time for me to get a bite, but it'll happen...Hang in there. Also Altres is an Agency in Hilo that is pretty popular.

Thanks everyone! She has applied for so many jobs that she has never done such as the census jobs from the federal government. She never hears from anyone she has applied with. She has her app in at Altres and they have sent her resume in to three companies in the last 4 months and she had only one interview and that company made it clear they were not interested by what they did. I don't want to speculate as to why.

Keep your hopes up... After I quit my job on Oahu... I thought I would easily have a job w/in 6 months of moving back to the Big Island. Had a few leads on things I wasn't really interested in.

I finally threw in the towel and decided to go back to work for the same place I worked for on Oahu... just a different position, on this island... FOR ABOUT HALF THE PAY! [xx(] First day was today... Just glad to be working again... Although it sure does suck not being able to sleep all day.[^]

Didn't realize how easy I had it with my old job making twice as much as I am now, yet now I'm doing more work. Go figure[B)]

If all else fails in the meantime for her... she may want to just volunteer or get active helping in the community... it sure helped me kill time while I've been unemployed and while I didn't make money... I did meet a lot of people that will be life long friends from the work I have done in the community since I've moved back.

Best of luck

Some find volunteer work to be the highest paid occupation, it seems you are richer for it.
