This may backfire. The Governor wants the state to go back to the HI Supreme Court to clarify or amend their ruling. The concern is that as the ruling is written, the State cannot pass legislation to provide funding if it's specifically for one group and not another.
The three areas where private interests are poised to use the ruling to halt funding are alternative fuel, solid waste management and funding to buy private land for preservation.
This is getting good.

I heard the same, but no reason why, thanks. With the economy being what it is, I bet the voters would do a 180 if it comes up again.(land buy).

Superferry is setting sail for Alabama either today or tomorrow for a retrofit. The second Superfery that was suppose to go to the Big Island is currently being negotiated to operate in the Mediterranian.
I doubt they will return to the islands...

Yep, and YB just assured us they can make the trips in short time and they can run refrigerated containers. So if you have a full container of produce, load it minutes before departure, it might be fresh when it gets where it's going. The worst corporate entities are loved by some.
Gee I thought they were going to the "awful military", at least the surfers are happy.

Yup, It sure is a shame HSF, Lingle and the legislature tried to evade the law. All they had to do was an environmental study and everyone would be happy.

I'm highly doubtful that even if they completed a EIS everyone would've been happy. These groups would've grumbled if the EIS supported all their claims that this service would impact Hawaii's environment, etc.

Aaron is right. Those guys would have tried to stop it regardless of what the EIS said. Meanwhile, Young Bros. has no reason to restrain their usual predatory operations.
