My house is still under construction but my builder informed me that I had to set an account with HELCO and give them my SSN to do so.
Is it a standard procedure to open the account now?

my understanding of her post is that she was told to contact HELCO and set up the account and give THEM her SSN, not the builder?

Thank you,Kani.
Some people with ADD can not read and understand at the same time.
Some suspicious and paranoid think that everyone is suspicious and paranoid.
Nothing you can do about it..

I wouldn't give my SSN to anyone for anything and I'm sure HELCO will accept other forms of IDs too.

Thank you,John.
I was simply curious if the builder is using a generator why would they want to open an account?
Let's say I am planning to be off grid and don't need the hellCo service
at all?
Or don't plan to live there or rent the house..

It would be best to ask your most recent questions of your contractor.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Rob,I asked and waiting for the answer.
This construction/regulation process is new for me,and I always like to learn something new.
It was about
LEARNING,nothing else.
As far as my GC is concerned ,he is wonderful and came with the second best references (first is from God himself[
]).

More than likely your contractor will need more amperage then the genset will provide
There is also the noise factor, working on a site with the generator going all day - is very hard on communication and the nerves
As a rule the GC will try to get a hook up as soon as he or she can
or have a very quiet 3500 watt honda electric start generator - grin

Thank you,Bullwinkle.
I never had a generator on the property, but now that you mentioned the noise,I remember the one the used at work once - not only it was horribly loud, but stinky too!
