HB 444 Civil Unions
For some people gay relationship is something pervert or even dirty.

But what a narrow minded person doesn't get is that there's love , commitment ,care..

The same feelings...

So why the paperwork shouldn't be the same?

Tom,it takes a lot to understand all this.

I am as straight as it comes, but it's something that should be

obvious to a person with an open mind and intellect.

And what is a "derversive lifestyle" anyway? My dictionary wants to know.
PaulW, derversive is one of my homemade words to capture the flavor of a topic. It’s nice to see that some are aware, so tell your dictionary not to be offended it doesn’t happen very often.

Now please let me set the record straight [oh, can I use that word or will it offend someone]

I don’t care if you putt from the rough or how light you walk in your slippers. Just stop forcing me to be a ethical part of your derversive lifestyle. You want laws to force people to recognize and except your behavior and tag words to it like “civil union” then question me when I say “deversive lifestyle.” Ounce again I’ll repeat, It’s not a matter of homosexuality it’s a matter of a person like myself being legislated into acceptance. HB Civil Unions 444 may pass the next time around by changing a few words, it’s just a matter of time anyway.

Trust me there are many people that think like myself but few that are willing to ruffle some feathers. Me I just don’t care so if your offended, kiss my akoli.

Stillhope you just called over half the world closed mined and dumb... you might want to see where you fall in the intelligence scale.

Intellect has nothing to do with excepting ideas or not wanting apply your morals to others. The Nazi party has some of the most intelegent people in the world in it in the 1930's and they had no qualms at all with forcing their world views on others.

Actually, from rereading all Jon’s post, I agree 100% with his position that government needs to get out of the business of marriage. Make it what all 50 states legally define and say it is, nothing but a legally binding contractual relationship. So civil unions would be the legal state license devoid of any political, sexual or religious baggage. The state outlines the required recognition accorded to legal civil unions.

So, if two people want a civil union, they get the license and appear before the clerk of the court or county, swear or affirm to the legal contractual requirements of this union, and get it filed. They are hitched, end of story. Make it all civil unions and be done with it.

OK Bob,

So lets get the government out of every aspect of two partners getting hitched. I’ll go along with that if the governments also get out of the, getting de-hitched part too. No de-hitching allowed and no division of properties in any court for any reason.
No government involvement in the distributing of monies, child support, alimony, pal alimony, and no lawyer fees. Yes, keep my government out of my private business. Hey, just to get rid of the divorce lawyers and send them back chasing ambulances may be worth it.
Gee, this thread is getting stupid and I put the blame squarely on my own shoulders. This whole thing is just plane silly.

Me and my partner Mark were sitting here tonight and we realized it was our 27 year anniversary.
We believe everyone should be able to marry.
While we don't need it after all these years, the young ones should have a choice.
We normally remember and celebrate our anniversary, but I had a family tragedy.
My 17 year old nephew committed suicide two days ago. Hung himself.
One of the issues he was dealing with was a relationship with another man.

I am so tired of people defending their meaning of marriage.
Love is love. Get over it.

I have often heard the statistics on gay youth suicide.
Now I feel it.

We are who we are, all of us gay or straight.

Sorry for rant hurting right now

Tom, I hope you realize that your words cut more than just to same sex unions.

When my husband & I were getting married, there were some in our church community who felt that we, too, should not be able to get married, since I was not able to have children. Your words reminded me of those days, decades ago.

The comments you made would also preclude the marriage of any people that were elderly, and in any other way could not have, or did not want to have, children.

I hope that you realize that many people do get married without the plan, or ability, of having children, and many are having children without marriage.

Carey... that would mean you need to find a new church...

If you look around you will always find someone that does not want you to do something.

Oh, and the term marriage does not mean "Will have offspring"
