Come on now, that means that you have not "RIGHT" to an opinion about being straight.

I also means that 99.9% of our government officials should not be allowed to talk or vote about things they don't know about... Men should not be allow to vote on womens issues, and non military people should have not say in how war is conducted...

Lets pick our words a little better... everyone in the USA has the "RIGHT" to their opinion... whether that opinion is listened to or even correct is another thing.

It's not the opinion I have a problem with,it's the fact that someone who knows nothing about being gay trying to tell me that I choose to be gay therfore I don't deserve the same rights as everyone else. When it comes to the desicion process then yes I would have to say straight people should not make the desicions for us, I would say the same for womens issues, if it does not effect you then why would you even want to be involved with the issue.
And as far as military issues, having served 6 years in the Air Force moistly over seas I can say , we have some major issues to deal with which we could start another thread on, I think if we had more people making desicions really know what they were talking about, the process would be alot faster, and maybe just maybe people would really understand one another.

then that's still not a reason to treat gays differently. What if there
was a law saying only Protestants can marry, would that be fair?

By all means, don't call it marriage if that's too much of a problem,
just give all consenting adults the same rights if they choose to
form a partnership. What's so special about heterosexuals, apart
from them being the majority?

But the whole concept of democracy is that you don't have to be something, or know something to be part of the debate.

You don't have choice of being born a human, but after that your whole life is a choice. Being gay may feel right to you, but its as much a choice as being straight.
I certainly don't want to make decisions for anyone, I have enough problems making my own. But when ever someone else's decisions will effect my life, I wish to have a say in it.

I hope you don't confuse marriage as a "RIGHT", its not. if it were there would be no confusion, mothers could marry sons, bothers and sisters could marry, 8 year olds could marry 50 year olds... Marriage is nothing more than a legal contract with ties to a church. For the most part marriage is a way to give women some power in the world. To make them equal in the relationship, or at least a little more equal.

as for what is so special about heterosexuals, well, if not for them, the population would be a lot smaller... as in... nonexistent. []

We do need to be ready for after two consenting adults are recognized under the law as one.... the next fight will be two or more consenting adults. I have already come to my conclusion about it... I don't care as long as it does not degrade our legal system.

Nonexistent? That used to be the case, technology has moved on!
There used to be no need for a homosexual form of civil partnership because the whole concept was outlawed.
But that too has changed.

I don't care what any consenting adults do, it's none of my business. If people want polygamy, go for it.

What's special? They can have offspring? So (now) can single women, and non-married couples, and homosexual couples, and polygamists. So what else sets hetero couples apart, what else warrants special treatment?

or better yet expeirment. Try being gay try to choose having homosexual sex, (make it a choose) then talk to me about it being a choose. if you can actually perform to complishment, then I can buy into the choose otherwise its a bunch of B.S.
