Ocean Sushi...hate the service. The sushi is "okay".

Norios...is that the little place on the Bay-Front side street? (Can't remember the street name) If so, the sushi is decent but the vibe is really weird--still not worth the price. I'm biased since my sushi-eating career began in Japan where the image of a "good sushi restaurant" assumes high quality food, but is incomplete without a personable sushi chef who talks to (and entertains) customers. The little place on Bay Front is run by a Japanese couple who I've never once seen crack a smile or make a friendly comment. We tried getting them to talk but to no avail. Been there once--actually twice but they ignored us the second time (we were the only two in the restaurant), so we left without ordering. Will never go back.

Now I've heard there's a great new Japanese restaurant in the Waikoloa complex. I shudder just thinking about how much it'll cost...but my friends at the Hilton tell me they've got specials if you go around (or before?) 5 pm.

I'll stay home and roll my own, thank you very much! :-)

Try Fujimama's in Kamuela. They used to have a locatin in Kona and their fish was always Grade A. Hopefully it's the same quality.

Sansei in the Queen's Shops? The special is Sun and Mon before 6, I think. Friends were telling us about it this weekend. They said be prepared for a line. Here's a review:

(My favorite sushi in Hilo is at Restaurant Miwa in the Hilo Shopping Center, but I'm no expert. Just prefer the service and the low-key atmosphere.)

Dunno Fitz... depends on the season...

I've seen some might beat up sockeye running up the ladders in the PNW.

I'd only eat them if I was starving![Big Grin]
