It's unfortunate that more people don't realize the extent to which politicians are liars who pander to the public for votes, and then turn up their nose when issues such as this arise. Terms such as "flip flop" are too cute to adequately describe what they do. It's nothing less than contempt for the people who elected them. Why do they do it besides lying and pandering? They do it because of everything from owing "favors" to downright CORRUPTION.

Well, my above entry was posted on Friday afternoon, here it is Sunday evening, and not a single person has come forward to defend our Hawaiian bureaucrats. Not one. This speaks volumes.

I stand before you a staunch supporter of Linda Lingle and her team. I am a Democrat who voted for a Republican. I lived on Maui for nearly 20 years and dealt with political debacles that left even me speechless (a lit. major). Her fairness, even demeanor, equitable distribution of consideration to both parties' projects and her dogged lawfulness leaves my knees weak.

Linda Lingle voting for marijuana, or a study thereof, would be akin to my ex-husband keeping a job; just not gonna happen.

For all you with a State issued license; grow your own.

And while I'm here on the issue; what's with the Big Island's enormous community of vegan-no soap usin'-make your own stove-poop in a bucket with a fan-patchouli smellin'-wanting to smoke an herb that creates mild mental retardedness and a whole host of newborn illnesses?

I can't understand how this is seen as a "flip flop" or contempt or corruption. By who?

While I agree with much centipede says, I choose not to encourage him on this topic. As seen by his statement quoted above, he is trying to get people to argue with him on the pot issue. He seems to have an "itch" about the subject.

oink, my big itch is with politicians because if they were honest and responded to reason and the will of the people, there wouldn't be many issues to argue about, and the world would be a better place to live. And as an fyi, my little itch with illegal pot is more social than personal.

bewitchedinhilo, I'm amazed in this day and age that anyone is a staunch supporter of any politician, and your last rambling paragraph leaves MY knees weak.

PaulW, re flip flop, please read the first line in bullwinkle's first link. As for contempt or corruption, you asked "by who" and my answer is: All of them.

During her campaign, Lingle was asked :
"Will you uphold the medical marijuana law that allows seriously ill people to use
marijuana when certified by their physician".
Her answer was "Yes".

She then vetoed HB2675 "which would have established a temporary task force comprised of state officials, physicians, and patients to examine critical issues affecting Hawaii's medical marijuana program"

As I understand it, she said she would uphold the existing law, not establish a task force
to examine it, or expand it, or promote it. So where is the flip-flop?
