Well, some of the comments come from someone that I used to work for and left to start my company. So, be that as it may, regard those comments in that light. The reporter did confirm with Fannie Mae that this is a new policy and that they never had a prohibition on Lava Zones 1 & 2 before.

That's really sad John, he should be proud of your accomplishments. I'm on good terms with all the agents who used to work for me and I wish them all the best when they leave for "greener pastures."

Yes, it typically works that way, unless of course it was discovered months later that proprietary documents were stolen, in violation of a signed agreement; then it becomes apparent that the pastures were planted with others seeds and not all of the accomplishments were obtained by honest means. Sad? You bet.
Yeah, I do have issues with Dis-Honest Johnny D, but it has no bearing on the facts related to Fannie never doing loans in Puna in Zones 1 & 2 anyway. It's not a "new" policy, it's merely a re-statement of what has long been the case...of course, it'd be really easy to prove me wrong: Johnny could back up his statements with actual DATA that shows Fannie made loans there prior to this "memo". We're waiting...

Not an attack, just a statement of facts. Things aren't always as they appear, and respect has a way of disappearing in the light of truth. Now, back to the topic: Fannie Mae?

The topic has been well covered in the previous postings. To me, your personal attack on this forum demonstrates a lack of professionalism as a result I wont be seeing you for my real estate needs. Aloha and discretion always more important than "getting even", ego or making a sale in my book.

If something was stolen, then report it to the police.
In the meantime: Island Trust is off my list.

I spoke to reporter who did this article. It sounded like Fannie Mae may have had unwritten policy to not underwrite loans in Lava 1 & 2 zones. However this is the first time that they’ve put this policy in writing.

Aaron, do you really believe at such a large organization as Fannie Mae there is such a thing as "unwritten policy?"

Obies' link nails it down in 1971 with a revisit in 90 or so based on 1985 maps.
I think the operative terms are: "active rift" and "danger of lava flows to low lying adjacent areas from those rifts". We have had a few reminders of that activity as recently as last year or so.
A double whammy of conservative underwriting and recent lava flows in the news raised a few eyebrows, memos where sent, policy dusted off, snoozing underwriters admonished and Pahoa screwed.
