Ah, you do understand the slang version of your name in Japan, don't you?

It never fails. Just when I need my slang version of Japanese dictionary, it seems I've misplaced it. So I'll bite?

I know the slang meaning of a similar-sounding Japanese word. And trust me, it's not appropriate for this (and most) forums so we won't go there. But the word "shakahashi" means nothing to me and I'm fluent in the language. My Japanese wife is stumped too.

If Hotzcatz can't state the slang meaning on a public forum then my guess is that it's the word I had in mind. (Hey, when you study a foreign language the slang and "bad words" are always easier to learn than the "boring" words :-)

If I had to take a wild guess I'd say "shakahashi" is a combination of "shaka"(the shaka sign) plus "hashi" ("bridge")...but again, it's just a wild guess.

So have no fear Shakahashi, your chosen on-line name is safe (I hope!)...But now I'm curious: how did YOU come up with the name "shakahashi"?

Dr. Shakahashi appears to be a very interesting person, assuming google didn't lead me astray:

So Dr. Shakahashi, tell us more about the proposed magazine.
