A few? It's the gun owners that are the minority.

Last time I checked this was still a constitutional replublic where the tyranny of the majority does not trump the constitution no matter how much some may wish it.

4.6 times increase of your and yours being shot when you carry Dick.

All good ... but for the rest of us that don't want to play... can we mark the guys carrying if it gets that far?

Its the concealed crazies that worry me ... How do we address my right not to want to be in proximity of a weapon in public .... Ill gladly move along and take the grandkids with me - thank you....

my last post on the subject .. . aloha

"Kellermann's own data suggests that for all gun homicides of matched cases no more than 34% were murdered by a gun from the victim's home. (GunCite's analysis of Kellermann's data.) (The data, such as it is, is available at http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/cgi/archive.prl?study=6898). 34% is probably on the charitable side since it assumes all family member or intimate homicides were commited by offenders living with the victim which is highly unlikely given that not all intimates (as defined in the Kellermann dataset: spouse, parents, in-laws, siblings, other relatives, and lovers) were likely to have lived with an adult victim." ------------- sobering stats from the gun lobby

As Bob has pointed out, there is no question here of constitutional rights
being infringed. Hawaii is well within the law, as interpreted by the Supreme
Court.

Whether gun restrictions should be relaxed or not is a matter for debate.
"My constitutional rights!" or various other slogans are not valid arguments
because constitutional rights have got nothing to do with it.

The question becomes Bear and whether state laws will supersede federal law. This a question that the supreme court will be addressing, as many state laws are written to make the bear portion of the 2nd amendment almost impossible to abide by. Whether Hawaii's no carry law will stand a constitutional challenge in light of the supreme courts decision is something we will have to wait and see what comes out of the current session. Reciprocity between states with regard to concealed carry will also probably end up in front of the court. But as usual this has devolved into the old us against them situation so, I'll just sit back and see where my NRA donations take us.

Accidents can happen with ANYTHING! Some of those things are deadly, our homes are full of those deadly accident things. If you treat a firearm as if it is always loaded, never have your finger on the trigger unless you are intending to shoot and never point a firearm at anything unless you are intending to shoot in, you should never have a accident.

Ill ask again.

How is a women to defend her self in hawaii? No Stun Guns, no tasers, no CCW. How does a women defend herself. All the women that were raped in Hawaii last year had very little options for self defense.

If you are sitting in your livingroom with your family watching TV and one of our many meth heads with his buddies is beating on your door because then need anything they can get to sell for meth money. What do you do?

Some nut decides to go road rage on you after you make a small driving mistake. what do you do?

Out at a off road distant beach with your family and a group of young men decide its beat up a haule day. What do you do?

We have a huge distructive earthquake or other disaster and looting begins. What do you do?

Do you really trust HPD to get to you to save you from rape, assault etc?

If you really are that proud of having no need for a firearm please post a sign in your yard that states, PROUD HOMEOWNER WITH NO FIREARMS INSIDE.

Its not just the right to a CCW its the right to carry something to keep an attacker away. That can be a Taser, stun gun, or a CCW.

Some are being pretty unfair with their use of statistical data. When reporting firearms "deaths" it's only useful to provide that data in the context of safety or magnitude of the issue when one acknowledges that suicides are a very significant portion of the data. Many studies exist and the among different demographics rates vary, but suicides in most cases account for roughly 40 to in some areas near 80 percent of all fatalities. When this understanding is applied to the data it changes the perspective of the actual risk a good deal. It's only fair to point that out. The omission of this aspect of the issue is glaring and suggests an attempt to advance an agenda rather than a good faith offering towards an honest discussion.

Death by firearm is death by firearm - a simple concept. I never suggested it was anything else.

"it changes the perspective of the actual risk"
The risk of an increased number of firearm deaths stays the same.

An increase in firearm-related suicides is also not something to look forward to.
