Home Depot in Hilo will most likely carry it. Typically for pool use, they should have muratic acid too, check outside in the garden department.

Been there done that...no liquid cl2, no muratic acid (in the garden department where the dry chemicals are). Yes for pool use. Thanks for the suggestion. Was hoping those pwebber pool owners would have a source but perhaps they all have pool service and don't need to buy their own chemicals.

Isn't any regular (unscented) liquid bleach containing sodium hypochlorite the same thing?

Perhaps one of the catchment tank companies or BEI.

PS - no pool service - just me and my staff, Sally and Vinny

you might try Lars at Big Island Spas in Hilo. I've found him to be very helpful. If he doesn't carry LQ, he may be able to help you find someone who does. http://www.bigislandspa.com/

What will you be using it for? There is a whole host of clorine products that are about the same; just packaged and priced based on consumer's willingness to pay. Based on use, you can make liquid clorine from garanular clorine.

Aloha Likahi,

Some people, like myself, use plain chlorine bleach in our pools. Its much cheaper than pool chlorine. I usually buy mine at Walmart.

You can find more info at: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_di...old_bleach

'Pool shock is calcium hypochlorite. Liquid bleach is sodium hypochlorite. Liquid pool shock is sodium hypochlorite.

Calcium hypochlorite is the granulated form of pool chlorine. It is useful if you have an in ground plaster/concrete/gunite/tile pool as it supplies calcium to the water to help maintain hardness.

Sodium hypochlorite is liquid form. This is useful to use if you have a vinyl lined pool since you don't need to maintain elevated calcium hardness in these types of pools.

Household bleach (non scented) is 6% sodium hypochlorite by solution. Liquid pool chlorine is 10%-12% sodium hypochlorite by solution. Granulated chlorine is 65% calcium hypochlorite.

10oz of granulated chlorine = 1/2 gallon of liquid pool chlorine = 1 gallon of household bleach. These measurements will raise the chlorine level by 5ppm in 10,000 gallons of water.
