Gas on beg - Ecotemp water heater
#21
You should have the operation instructions for your shower faucet, if not go to the mfg. website to find out how to adjust the water flow pressure.

We went with an American Standard shower faucet control (first time I have ever had A.S. faucets) only because it was a 'new fangeled' (ie required by building code) pressure balancing/anti scald valve that has full range temp & flow control. We ordered ours online only to find out that HPM stocked them, but didn't have them on their faucet display - only found that out when they had some on clearance - after we paid much more for the faucets & shipping!

Many new faucets have a pre-set pressure (flow) thingy within the central valve of the faucet control (that is what may need to be adjusted).

We just had a discussion with our plumber today about hot water heaters. He is suggesting a traditional gas water heater rather than the on demand system we thought we wanted. He says problems like yours are normal with a catchment system or well. They are fine for county water. He did say that if we still decided to put in the on demand system we should also use a constant pressure pump. He also said that the older faucets were made so that each controlled both temperature and volume of the water. Because of the new anti-scald safty features they now do not work as well as the old ones for the on demand system. It sounds a if your system may be preforming as well as it can with your pump and well.
He was also telling us that there is a new solar water system made with plastic rather than corrosive copper that is designed to be retro-fitted with a traditional gas water heater. Using this system your gas heater works as a back-up to the solar heater instead of the more expensive to operate electric back-up system.

sandy, thank you for your comments. this is exactly what my plumber told me, and i tried to relay to stillhope, or any new builders. i got one rather mean comment ("hire a real plumber"). but i only respect my plumber for telling me this. i dont want to constantly be fiddling with the thing. two of my good friends went instant, loved it cause the husband could always run out and do "something", then he went to the mainland and she was stuck. i also went regular tank....[Wink]
