Dan Craig in Shipman Industrial does a good job.
Another direction is to keep checking the Kona Habitat for Humanity - my friend just picked up about $30K of cabinets - way way way high end for about $5000K includes bathroom vanities etc - actually more cabinents that she will need when she is finished but the pricing was too good for top end all wood, incredible hardware, etc. So try to get lucky and go to HFH / Kona seems to have better items than Hilo but you can check Hilo easier and more often.

We have all wood cabinets that are original to the house (about 20 years old). The faces of the cabinet doors are smooth front and all need to be refinished, the frames are in better condition except for paint drips left all over the house by amateur painters who did a really sloppy job. Can anyone recommend a cabinet maker who would refinish the doors at a reasonable price? I will probable deal with the frames myself, but I want a good finish on the doors and drawers.

But these are unpainted cabinets whose finish on the wood doors needs to be redone. They have a very pretty wood veneer that I want to keep. I figured a cabinet maker would be able to sand off the last remnants of the old finish and refinish them.

I see, Carol, when you said there were paint drips I thought you meant the cabinets were painted, especially because we'd been talking about white on this topic.
You are probably right that a cabinet maker can do it. However, just FYI about the crossover in trades, my son's job as a painter involves more time doing wood finishes than dealing with paint. The average house painter probably doesn't. In the contracts my son works on, the cabinets are delivered unfinished and the painting company does all the finishing on wood cabinets, doors, and trim in the house. They know the formulas that stand up to wear on the island.

We used Jay's Custom Cabinets in Shipman Business Park. We were
very satisfied with the quality and their service. Pretty good selection of cabinet colors as well. Not sure if they have anything white, but Jay is very knowledgeable. "From knowledge comes understanding"
