The Yogi,
We are going to be building, so your question about rust has me investigating further the quality of the Kynar finish, which is used extensively now on metal roofing and siding.
It appears that this finish holds up the best in wet-humid climates, and http://www.custommetalroofing.us/matfinish.htm says it is guaranteed for 20 years. I am unable to access their specification page to make sure it is the Kynar 500 PVDF. Maybe their PDF specs page will open for you. I have sent an email to them requesting this information, I will let you know what I discover.
There is a lot of information on the web with regards to the quality of Kynar 500 PVDF (polyvinylidene Flouride), here’s one: http://arkemaus.com/pdf/techpoly/kurt%20paper.pdf
We will be doing a well, so the catchment issue will not effect us, but obviously you will want to investigate this further.
The two local sources that I know of are Custom Metal Roofing 966-5660 and Aloha 966-7788, both in Keaau, and both use Kynar + cool roof finish, but like I said we need to confirm it is Kynar 500 PVDF.
Hope this is helpful.
