I am looking to rent YOUR car please? Hilo/Puna
#7
Critter lover, you may want to read your policy carefully. There are policies that cover you as a driver with no vehicle and almost all standard policies apply to you driving a rental car if it is a substitute for your own. Most of the time the policy for the vehicle is primary. Your own insurance is almost always secondary in the event the limits of the first policy are exhausted. I could go into much greater & more boring detail but I will save you of the hum-drumness of my occupation. I should also throw in the suggestion that your agent doesn't always understand the way a claim applies to a policy. That is why adjusters & agents have different state board testing & different continuing education classes. So always read everything and not just go by what the agent says.

I think it would be best to get a rental for the trip instead of borrowing a car. Try signing up for all of the rental companies frequent user programs & you get special rates. Also, the last minute deals on alamo's web site are awesome.
