Price is not the only thing to look at with insurance, you also need to find out how the company offering cheaper insurance reacts when/if you make a claim. Sometimes you save up front, but if you do have a big accident or disaster in your home they may try to use every excuse not to pay out. A good reputation can be worth paying extra for.
I believe you can look at insurance companies' ratings so you can make your choice based on both price and rating.
I wouldn't be too happy if there was extra cost buried in the small print which was not pointed out to me and then later on I was told I had no choice but to pay for it. My gut reaction would be to cancel the whole thing and start over.
