Thanks for all the information! A great starting point.
I have a small amount of experience with SLR's from doing some product photo's of woodworking. So I was able to comprehend your advice and I do have a tripod and remote.
I didn't know about the software and I'll be looking into that.
Mostly I want to capture some of the amazing things I've seen here and point and click has always left me with a pale imitation. I would love to be able to share these images with friends/family back on the mainland that do Hawaii justice.
One of my lasting memories about Hawaii is looking at pictures before we visited the first time and thinking, "Well, its really beautiful but I wish they didn't Photoshop the colors to make them so saturated" Then upon arriving I realized that it wasn't Photoshop; the greens really were that deep and the water really is that turqoise/indigo.
If I don't succeed maybe you might sell prints? I have to say your images are the closest I've seen that show what sticks with me about the Big Island.
