I have often thought about the costs of Hawaii and the costs of Belize.
My first instinct when I think of a couple of masked guys stopping me on the road in Belize, pointing a gun at me and taking the 20 dollars I have is, "Man, I have got to move to Hawaii. This just doesn't happen in Puna."
The only problem is that I will have to pay 100 000 dollars more for the same quality land in Hawaii, equivalent to being robbed on the road 5000 times. In all likelihood in Belize, I would be robbed on the road less than 10 times in my life.
But a bad snake can end your life in 20 hrs in BZ and such snakes don't live in HI.
