Bob: yes, voters passed the lowest law enforcement priority bill, but there has been no discernible difference. The copters still hover over us. And Bob, with all due respect (and I do think you're one of the brightest bulbs on this forum), your arsonist analogy is totally off base. A more relevant analogy would be police peering in windows and knocking on everyone's doors looking for a discreet massage therapist who provides sensual services to his/her clients. I don't want illegal activity in my neighborhood, but the disruptive aspect of the enforcement activity shouldn't be greater and longer lasting than the disruptive aspect of the illegal activity.
MDD: we did due diligence before moving. We were told green harvest would be curtailed by the lowest law enforcement priority bill. We were not naive enough to believe it, of course, and that doesn't mean we can't work to improve the situation. And unlike train tracks (which are fixed in place and provide a great benefit to a great number of people), 'copter flights could stop tomorrow because there's no physical infrastructure investment that can't be repurposed easily. And oh, by the way, I used to live next door to a train track, and it was much less disruptive to daily living. Our due diligence also showed us that many of the intersections of Rt. 130 are extremely dangerous and poorly planned. Does that mean I can't petition for improvements there either???
And Daniel, you're right - they are a serious invasion of privacy. I'm not a grower (personal use or commercial), I'm just someone who enjoys a bit of peace and quiet on my Sunday mornings and someone who likes to sunbathe in my supposedly private back yard without having police staring at my bits and pieces from overhead whenever they so desire (and for the record, my bits and pieces can be seen from 500' without the use of high power magnifing binoculars...)
