Woodland Center -- Business as Usual
#4
@John: Did the Council ever cared about the opinion of the public testifying at these hearings?

ME: It seemed initially some did. But as the discussion ensued it became more and more apparent the decision was not going to include the behest of the testifiers.

It was a quirky day. Earlier in the day during an hours long discussion about Kamaoa Rd in Ka'u the Kona group began to parse out according to alliances. As the day wore on things got more and more bizarre as to the rationale most employed in reaching decisions. Unfortunately, by 230 when the Woodland Center issue was taken up it was like watching bumper cars. People crashing into one another and veering off then coming back. When the executive session was called it was like the electricity was turned off to the cars. When the power came back on, 7 cars plowed into 2 cars ramming them for each of the 3 rapid fire votes. I use this analogy because if you take the bumper cars out and place them in the actual area surrounding Malama Market Place and Woodland Center cars ramming one another takes on a different level of seriousness. Yet, as it stands, if in the subsequent 2 readings nothing changes, and we do still have 2 more readings to change these people's minds, we may be faced with real life bumper cars!
