Betel Nuts
#11
Betel is not the same palm as areca. Betel grows very tall with a single trunk, and areca is relatively short and bushy. If you want to see betel palms, go to the Panaewa Zoo parking lot. You can pick seeds (nuts) off the ground and they will germinate.

State DOA has soil maps and they can tell you what you have and if it is suitable for betel. Check with the cooperative extension service at Komohana.
