Now, oddly enough, a AR-15 with a 30 round magazine is legal. Which is good. They are really handy and effective on pigs.
I've carried for nearly 30 years and rarely felt the need or desire to carry a high capacity handgun. In casual dueling tree elimination competition (loads of fun) I've beat out the guys carrying high caps on several occasions with a wheel gun. I currently carry, depending on mood and circumstances, a 6 shot .45, a 6 shot .380, a six shot .38 or a 7 shot 9. I feel perfectly confident with all except perhaps the .380 but going for a walk what else. I have no need or desire to lug around a fat and heavy high cap pistol. I sympathize with the inability in Hi. to get a carry permit. That needs work.
It was my understanding that all high cap magazines were outlawed in Hi., for both handguns and long guns.
I'll give most of my guns to my sons before I make the move. I was planning to give them to them eventually anyway. I'll keep a couple of carry guns and a few hunting guns. I'm thinking a bird gun, a pig gun, a varmint/plinker gun and a goat gun
PS: If it turns out there is an active shooting club that I can afford to join I might bring something suitable for that purpose.
