Because the nuts grow underground, you need soil at least 6 inches deep and not too heavy. They like full sun. Because the plants have a nice low domed shape with yellow flowers they make a good looking edging for your garden. Because they are leguminous and fix nitrogen, you can interplant them as companions with plants that use a lot of nitrogen, such as corn.
