I know this is off topic, but $80,000 in a mainland city is not all that much. It's less than what some Assistants earn and some secretaries. I had friends that were making that in 98 in dot coms with minimal experience. Any school that wants to compete with mainland institutions better be paying similar wages, especially if they expect them to move to such an expensive place to live. If UH is only paying that much for full time tenured professors, they would be scraping the bottom of the barrel talent wise.
