From meth labs next door to fighting roosters, a pack of ever-barking dogs, neighbors who fire guns into the air for fun ... it's all here.
Lots of great great stuff, but if you can't handle your close neighbors, that can be overwhelming.
Learn about some of the pests -- coqui frogs, stinging nettle caterpillar, scholopendra (big centipedes) rat lungworm disease, fire ants. These things will likely be part of your life.
Sit down and read the topics here in building and gardening forums, to get an idea of what people's concerns are.
It's very expensive to live here, even if you think you are ready to minimize. So figure out your source of income in advance. As a newcomer, you'll find it's hard to get hired (understatement). []
Guess we got lucky here.On one side, we still have yet to meet them.My wife's been over a couple times to say hello, but they weren't home. But they are QUIET. Our other neighbors are the greatest. They are watching over our place till we move there and are just friendly as can be. Our daughter, her spouse, and our little grandaughter live in HPP (now you see why we're moving there-to spoil our grandaughter!!). We've made a few other friends too that have been very helpful.
