Speaking of which, are there any certified NLP practitioners out here? Great stuff. Back in the day I had a couple of sessions with the guys who developed it. Miraculous....
I worked as a secretary back in the day for a guy who did NLP seminars for real estate company sales people. it is a quite interesting thing to watch happen.
Any really good sales person is doing something most of us dont do no matter what it is called now - and that is listen. Every day there is a new "paradigm" teaching us how to interact.
The great salesperson really listens. They listen for cues to what makes us tick. They use that to make us feel comfortable in choosing [an item - property, shoes, a stereo system...]. The great ones dont instinctively know but they listen and really look at a person to see what might tickle their fancy. Then they basically but more sophisticated repeat back what we "need" using the verbage our cues give them.
Good law enforcement interrogators use it.
MKP must have originally spoken to a need that someone originally listened to. Then it became a want of others who saw it become popular. But thats a whole 'nother social phenomenon - rise to popularity.
We have had Esalen, and Scientogologists, and Catholics, Buddhists, etc, and NLP, et etc etc and any number of other modality that helps
When it is all really simple - this is taken from a woman's celebration of life that friends knew who died last week: http://www.ocregister.com/news/allie-291...isley.html
From one of her friends:
I want to share with you some important life lessons she modeled for me:
* Open your heart wide and let life in unconditionally
* There is enough love for everyone so share it freely and often
* Believe in yourself and the people you love and give them your best
* Have hope, no matter what
* Know you have a purpose, find it and do it
* You are stronger than you think
* Be genuine and kind and cultivate a generous spirit
* Laugh, always laugh, and enjoy the moment
* Believe, anything is possible
