Elastic and ball-point pens.

I've had the same briefs for more than 10 years and more than 5 here. The elastic is still if fine condition. Only time I ever had a problem in the past was when I didn't know better and used too much bleach. Do you leave your cloths out on the clothes line too long? UV from the sun will do the same as what you describe too.
