Puna Community Medical Center has is requesting a long term lease of State land on Hwy 130, across from the water dept. fill-up site just Kea'au side of Pahoa. The purpose is the construction of a comprehensive medical center, with the first phase being a free-standing emergency room. The DLNR has given an "approval in concept" with the condition that an environmental assessment be done. The Draft EA is now complete and ready for public comment. Copies of the Draft EA are available at the Pahoa, Keaau and Mt.View libraries. There will be a scoping meeting on Monday, Oct. 28 from 6-8 pm at the Pahoa Neighborhood Facilityto provide the community with all the information and take mana'o. Everyone is urged to attend.
