when we were trying to install solar we had a bunch of solar "expert" companies on this island come over to look at what they thought we would need. they all gave us a quote of around 45-50 thousand dollars to put in a new system.
they gave us the estimate based on equipment, pannels, batteries ext they were going to put in. we got on a phone and priced out all the components and it turned out that the price of all components came to around 20 grand. so we sat there scratching our heads. they all wanted a near 50 grand for the job, so they were going to make additional 30 grand for putting the system in working 1 week at most to do it? seemed like an outrageous rip off to us. so, we went ahead and did it ourselves and proud to say for 10 grand we have almost all brand new system, alot smaller then what the experts told us we would absolutely need, yet with our smaller system we have more energy then we can use, and we use a lot, dishwasher, laundry, big tv, several of them, and computers and it all is no problem, we have plenty of energy left at the end of the day. so whatever they tell you these experts, take it with a grain of salt, its not all what it seems especially not on this island where just because you are on the island, the prices must be out of this world on so many things. it really makes me mad sometimes, people taking advantage like that.
