The words "CHOICE" and "LIFESTYLE" used by me about my son:
I am proud of the lifestyle he has CHOSEN to live. Not in the closet, but out with everyone he knows and happy. Not everyone who is gay has CHOSEN to live an open LIFESTYLE and be happy who he is. He is an activist and involved with gay politics as well as gay healthcare. He works with PFLAG to educate. That is a lifestyle choice. Just as staying married to a woman when you are a gay male is a lifestyle choice. Being in the closet and telling lies about your partners and your sexuality is a lifestyle choice.
I have NEVER thought that being gay is a choice. NEVER.
Being out and proud of who you are is a huge choice and living openly with being true to your convictions is a lifestyle.
My son chose to be openly gay and happy about it. He came out to us when he was in 8th grade. He was openly gay in Keaau High school. He embraced his gayness and that is a CHOICE.
