Thanks Tom! Do you mean going up to Mauna Kea Visitor Station or just staying on Saddle Road would be high enough?
Am looking for a good star gazing spot not just for this lunar eclipse but also for all subsequent meteor showers. The past 2 meteor showers that occurred over the summer, I went up Mauna Kea VIS but it was toooo cold for me. I said no way I would be able to come back in the winter. So if anyone knows a good spot, please share
I wonder if the view is good inside Volcano Park by the museum and how it is compared to MK VIS. But it's too cold up there for me as well.
I noticed that if I go to Kona through Saddle Road and right where Saddle Road ends (I think around Waimea??) the sky was always clear and full of stars. I think that would be a good place (though a tad far) but I didn't see any empty lot to pull into and I didnt want to just park on the side of the road to get rear ended.
