I gotta laugh about the reaction we have gotten...with hubby working "way over there" by the Kona airport!.... both for driving that far & for the taking the bus! (I find the bus ride to be calming & the view from "way up" is breathtaking (and sooo much better when you do not have to keep your eyes on the road!)
Would love it if the bus had more options...and we really do appreciate the service we have now (never lived in a town with public bus, only trains (one route only!)... and always lived a trek to the stations....so the ability to travel on a bus to sooo many other destinations on this island, is kinda nice! (of course, where we decided to live was partly because of the good public transportation service....cannot beat Keaau for route options!)
I have taken the bus to Kona a few times, have driven the route many times & hubby does it weekly... for right now, the drive over Saddle is really nice, as there is no construction...but the next 2 legs of the realignment will have to be tied in at some points, so there will be more construction...but for now it is easy breezy!
