I finally figured out why my 7 year old avocado tree in lower HPP was always dropping all it's fruit. It was a grafted tree I purchased from Paradise Plants and when it started growing it produced suckers both above and below the graft and instead of cutting them off then.....I ignored them and they grew quickly to huge branches which I thought was just part of the tree...but it was actually sucking the life out of the fruiting part every year. I finally cut off the sucker branches last fall which were now about 4 inches round and now I have a avocado tree with more buds than I've ever seen. The real test will be in a few more months to see if they hold the fruit...but I think it will (hoping)
