My self and at least 6-8 other players showed up yesterday at the above mentioned chess fun day. This was the first of many (not every) Saturdays for the event. Everyone had a fine time and many worked out the cobwebs in their brain (as one player put it) to get back into chess playing. There were players of all different playing abilities (no world class players that day-certainly not me!), and if anyone would like to learn about the game, I would be happy to go through the basics with them. I had the fun and honor of coaching a K-6th grade chess club for 5-6 years on the mainland, and both I and the kids really enjoyed it.
Chess can be enjoyed by all players at any playing level. Playing strong players can also improve ones own ability as they find out what the weaknesses in their game may be.
If anyone would like to come out send me an email at birdmove@yahoo.com and I'll forward the information to you.
Thanks to Jim Lee for putting this together.
