The main means of defense I choose for my home is the police. If I heard a noise at my window, the first thing I would reach for is a phone, and not a gun. That would be the second thing. I support my local police and am willing to pay for a more numerous force.

It is peaceable in part because crazy people, like the one who shot Gabrielle Gifford, don't have free and easy access to guns, especially those that can fire off multiple rounds (more than would ever be needed to kill a pig). Our crazy people just hang out harmlessly at the Cash & Carry
