Bringing Firearms When Moving to B.I.
hmmm... wow!!! seems to be a lot of hostilities on this topic.

I would first like to thank oink, I felt oink kinda stuck up for me here! I don't believe I belittled or personally insulted anyone on this forum by honestly sharing my views and stories. I also appreciated that oink thought I might make a better neighbor than most! I know for a fact that my past and present neighbors would fully agree with oink!

I am not as crazy or stupid as it seems some of you to have judged me to be - if I was I would most likely be getting paid by the state for it!!! But it seems by some estimations here I might be, if I was, and collecting money from the state and got crazier, do you think I could get a raise?

;p ha take that for some sarcasm hehe, raised by the best sarcastic TV humor ever - British!

I am not some paranoid that carries a gun everywhere I go! Obviously some of you did not read the full content of my posts or you would note that I have been raised with guns. Not by some paranoid family seeking protection from "evil doers", but a hunting, fishing, hiking in wilderness family. However owning guns over the years has provided some sense of security as well when living a rural life.

I don't agree that a majority of times an owner of a weapon finds it used upon them instead in the heat of a crime. I do agree that does and can occur. I know to use every available and last resource - outwit, outlast, outplay before the very last resort to end or prevent an impending attack. Never ever reveal and point a gun unless you plan and need to use it. And if you do shoot to kill! Even though I believe in ownership and the right to defend myself or family from harm doesn't mean i walk around everywhere waiting to off the first person who is an @hole!

Several times when physically threatened and had access to a gun I chose to retreat and secrete myself, I prefer to not resort to violence if it can be avoided. Once when having called 911 for assistance - and I was desperate and thought for sure I was going to be a goner after having my door kicked in I fled into the woods quickly enough and was smart enough to know HOW to hide. It took the police a half an hour to respond to the scene. Yes, I had a gun I could have attempted to use, but I was smart enough to recognize it was better to leave it hidden or in that particular case it most likely would have as someone in this thread said "been used against me".

Again, I like to hunt, I'm more the spotter than the hunter Smile I understand there are several varieties of game on the island, I am not a hunter for hides or horns, I am a hunter to provide game for the table. Speaking of game, we had the most delicious black bear back strap for dinner tonight Big Grin I am a pretty good crack shooter when it comes to knocking off targets or clay pigeons Smile i like to see a black powder pistol fired at night loaded with enough powder to see the fire roar out the barrel - kick in the pants! Thats the redneck in me and country gal.

I am for some tighter regulations on guns also. I don't want to see them in the wrong hands either. I get the feeling that a lot of the posters on this topic might come from larger urban jungles than from rural areas. If that is the case I can totally understand why they might feel so strongly against guns. I am not from a place with gang wars and drive by shootings, I am from a rural country provide food from nature lifestyle.

To quote from a post on this forum "only kooks own guns" totally not true in all cases! Did you know that there is shooting sporting event in the National Olympics!?

Another quote "You don't sound well" !!! Insulting and narrow minded - why waste my breath, energy, and even time to continue debating on this post??? Honestly I do try to tell myself to keep my views to myself and not to post on these forums due to so much negativity, sometimes I get the better of myself and doggone it go and express myself anyhoos! Sad One of these days I will learn just to keep my mouth shut and snort to myself at the rest of you!

To those same one who was insultive - I agree a birthday party a place for a gun!??? NOT! But if someone has the intent to harm, many of that ilk have certainly found other ways just as evil if not more evil than a gun to use to cause harm and even death. Former hero and now disgraced OJ is a good example of that!

Lately I have not laid claim to any specific political party, I vote for who I feel is the best for the job, for the USA and whose views i most relate to.

Naive - yes about a few things most likely true although I hate to admit it and try not to be. Sad Smile

I hope I used enter enough for the person who said I didn't have enough white space so they din't read my post! LMAO its probably more due to my long winded opinions ;D

Well hope I am not stepping on any toes or out-rightly insulting anyone. For 99.99% of the folks we met in Hawaii, everyone was great, gracious, giving, friendly and full of Aloha. We have not felt more welcome than we did in Hawaii. If that kind of love is spread there then yes there should be no need for violence. But I sure did see a lot of pigs, a few turkeys and pheasants and other game that might meet the end of my gun! Unless of course I learn of new quieter, safer ways to secure game meat Smile No not from the grocery store either! It grosses me out to think about all the people handling my food sources! Smile

Peace out folks, chillax a little like your preaching about! Sounding a little uptight and strung tight as a rubber band. Don't be so judgmental, its not going to scare me off Smile
