@SandyS
We had stopped by their place when we were on BI a couple of years ago. they had a lot of very fine orchids, but nothing that filled the bill for my addiction. As I remember, everything they had available were hybrids.

Once I'm located there, I will be in contact with the local orchid society.
@Carey
In searching this site, I found some older post about the August orchid show. I will definitely attend looking for as much info as I can glean. I have seen the orchid growers website but did not come away with a feeling that anyone on the list would fill my needs. Although, visiting them may prove otherwise.
What I need to do is get a hold of a local acquaintance here in AK. She used to make yearly trips to somewhere in HI. She would bring back many new orchids stuffed into her luggage. I believe she was going to one of the other islands. I remember looking at the website of the grower she was going to and noting that they did grow a lot of species orchids. Although as I remember, they specialized in things like Bulbophyllums and similar, which are of little interest to me.
EDIT:
I did some searching last night and found the grower:
Tropical Orchid Farm on Maui.
It is beginning to seem that, while I may find a few that I will be looking for available in HI, I'll probably need to purchase most of the types I am interested in from the mainland. That looks as if it will be a bit more complicated requiring import permits, plant quarantines, certificates of origin, etc.
Thanks for your input.
