swam with turtles at Richardson's and the Kapoho tide pools are amazing! My husband says it is like stepping into Avatar 
Beaches are definitely small but we also enjoyed just sunning on the lava cliffs
There is a clothing optional beach, Kehana that was beautiful and we noted that lots of families were there as well, did not seem to be a big deal just an accepted norm.
We didnt hit to many areas on Kona side as Puna kept us plenty happy and busy, but those we did stop at were pretty
Our favorite area was The Place of Refuge, and I understand 2 step "beach" is right next to Refuge and has great snorkeling or diving, also suppose to be a campground close by although it was getting too late for us to find it.
