In the Aloha+ Challenge article in the paper today, our Mayor is included in the leaders who have signed on to this initiative. Item #4 is: "Waste Reduction: Reduce the solid waste stream prior to disposal by 70 percent through source reduction, recycling, bioconversion and landfill diversion methods."
The proposed waste-to-energy project, being pushed by our Mayor, will require all the islands trash, including green waste, to be burned.
Which is it? Do we want waste reduction, as announced in this PR event, or do we want to burn, baby, burn?
