The guy we hired to weed whack around the guava trees (3 acres worth) told me his whacker cost $600 and looking at it I believe it. It uses the same line as a swisher. He ran it 8 hours several days in a row, he said he would have gone through 2 whackers from Sears in 8 hours and at least $100 worth of line.
But someone like myself who is not into "hardcore" weed whacking, I prefer a cheaper throw-away model. I'd rather toss a $100 whacker than spend $100 repairing a $600 whacker, but my back can only handle about 30 minutes of whacking at a stretch. So no need for a professional model.
