I am glad you had a good experience, but I think mine was more representative. I am loathe to do or say anything that would impact a person's livelihood and do so only at the suggestion that the questionable guidance I received was as a result of a less than perfect attitude on my part. I support small, local small businesses like Akonapet, but I am so glad I didn't do it her way, at greater expense and in a way that I think would have been more difficult for my girl. If others have had a more positive experience, I encourage them to voice it.
My girl arrived on a DIRECT FLIGHT from LAX (not recommended by Akonapet), minimizing trauma to both her and I. Papa put her on the plane at one end, and Daddy picked up her at the other end. Five hours and 30 minutes not counting wait time in Los Angeles. She was off the plane in no time, as living cargo is offloaded first. The quite wonderful vet checked her out and then, to my girl's surprise, I appeared from my hiding place behind the car and we were reunited in mutual delirium after a month's separation (she stayed with my ex-partner while I got the place dog-friendly for her). Until that moment, I wasn't sure if I was going to like this place.
Akonapet had nothing to do with that truly joyous moment and instead simply underscored the adage that if you want something done right, do it yourself, with the kind assistance of a competent westside vet. I am pretty sure the competent westside vet would tell you the very same thing.
