This article says he is still in jail, as of yesteday after a court appearance and it says he is under State custody:

I did read the hawaiitribune-herald article and it says he made $20,000 bail. Again, we have conflicting news stories. The herald has been making a lot of factual mistakes lately and slow to correct them.
