Many employers on the Big Island (and elsewhere in Hawaii) are reluctant to consider applicants from the mainland for a variety of reasons. They may not feel like it is worth talking to someone who may or may not actually move here, or they may have experienced a high rate of resignations from people they hire who decide to move back in year or less. Even if you were already residing here, the second factor I mentioned could apply. It's not always fair, but this is the reality of the job market here. Many medical specialty professionals are disappointed to find a different world here when it comes to the expected ease of finding employment.
